Memorandum of Understanding between the Human Rights Institutions of Uzbekistan and China was signed
On May 14, a Memorandum of Understanding was approved between the National Human Rights Center of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the China Foundation for Human Rights Development. The Memorandum was signed by the heads of both organizations, Akmal Saidov and Li Hongkui.
This event was organized within the framework of the 2026 China-Central Asia Forum on Human Rights Development in Tashkent. The Forum was held by the China Foundation for Human Rights Development (CFHRD) and the National Human Rights Center of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The preamble to the Memorandum of Understanding reflects the desire of the Parties to strengthen friendly relations, as well as to expand the exchange of experience and cooperation in the field of human rights, and to jointly promote the development of human rights between Uzbekistan and China.
As noted in the Memorandum, the Parties will cooperate in the field of promotion and protection of human rights on the basis of the principles of equality, mutual respect and benefit. Within the framework of the memorandum, including:
- conducting joint research on human rights issues, as well as promoting human rights knowledge and implementing training programs;
- establishing mutually beneficial information exchange in the field of human rights and jointly holding scientific seminars;
- cooperating in such areas as assisting in the implementation of the international obligations of both countries in the field of human rights and improving global governance in the field of human rights.
The memorandum also indicates the forms of implementing such cooperation. In particular, this refers to the exchange of information, legislative documents, information and analytical materials and literature in the field of promoting and protecting human rights, as well as the exchange of experience in implementing international obligations in the field of human rights, as well as the implementation of joint scientific programs and socially significant projects aimed at promoting the protection of human rights.
In addition, it is envisaged to organize visits and internships for employees, hold international conferences, seminars, round tables and training programs on human rights. In addition, special attention is paid to the preparation and publication of joint publications on the promotion and protection of human rights, as well as strengthening ties for international cooperation in the field of human rights.
