The upgraded airport will feature modern amenities

On June 18, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed the progress of construction works at the “Tashkent-East” Airport.

As Uzbekistan continues on a path of sustainable development and enhances its international appeal, the volume of foreign economic relations and investment flows steadily increases. In this context, Uzbekistan prioritizes the modernization of its transport infrastructure as a key factor for future growth.

One of the country’s strategic projects is the reconstruction of the “Tashkent-East” Airport. The goal is to provide fast, safe, and comfortable air travel that meets high international standards while alleviating the load on the capital’s main international airport.

As part of the first phase, the 4-kilometer runway complex has been fully renovated, allowing the airport to accommodate aircraft of all types, including the heaviest.

Construction is underway on two terminals – one for receiving official delegations and another for servicing business aviation – along with the apron and hangar facilities.

The airport will have advanced radio navigation and meteorological systems that are compliant with ICAO Category III-A standards, ensuring safe takeoff and landing operations even in adverse weather conditions.

Fully enclosed hangars will provide all necessary conditions for the safe and high-quality servicing and storage of aircraft.

Owing to its advantageous location, the new airport will become a central transportation hub for Tashkent and the city of New Tashkent, while also serving as an additional driver for developing the tourism industry in Tashkent region. Most importantly, it will expand opportunities for hosting international visits and business trips and improve conditions for receiving foreign investors. As a result, economic activity will increase, the service sector will become more dynamic, new jobs will be created, and the country’s investment appeal will be significantly enhanced.

The Head of State reviewed the technical specifications of the project and the architectural designs of the terminals and gave specific instructions to accelerate construction works and improve the level of service.
